Job Description

SMA Solar Technology AG is the world’s largest solar inverter manufacturer with expected sales in excess of 1 billion USD for 2009. SMA is the only vendor that has a complete product range for any module type and any power class. This applies to grid tied applications as well as island and backup systems.

The solar inverter is the most important component in any solar power system: it converts the direct current (DC) generated by the photovoltaic cells into alternating current (AC) suitable for the electrical grid. In addition, it is an intelligent system manager, responsible for yield monitoring and grid management. SMA’s products are sold under the brand names Sunny Boy, Sunny Central and Sunny Island.

SMA is headquartered in Germany and represented by twelve sales and service subsidiaries on four continents. This group of companies employs more than 3,000 employees and has been distinguished several times in previous years with awards for its outstanding performance as an employer. Since 2008, SMA has been listed in the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and the TecDax.

SMA expects the solar market in the United States to become the largest market in the world in the near future. In order to provide innovative inverters to the fast growing number of U.S. customers, SMA will establish a major manufacturing plant in the Western United States in 2009. The manufacturing plant, with an initial capacity of just under 1 Gigawatt, will produce Sunny Boy, Sunny Central and Sunny Island inverters for the North American solar markets.
